New Orleans Artist Jax Frey Sets World Record for Most Original Acrylic Paintings on Canvas
Frey’s 20,000th 'Little Views' Mini Painting Sets the New World Record with the World Record Academy
New Orleans (June 29, 2017)
– Jax Frey, an award-winning New Orleans artist, completed her 20,000th ‘Little Views’ mini painting, thus
setting the new world record for the Most Original, Acrylic Paintings on Canvas by one Artist, according to the World Record Academy.
“I am honored to be recognized by the World Record Academy for my artwork,” said Frey. “I'm a Louisiana girl with a passion for painting. I truly enjoy my work, which is why I have created so many original pieces during my career so far."
Frey’s popular collection of ‘Little Views’ are original, colorful and high-textured mixed media paintings on 4x4” canvases. Sold and welcomed in stores and art collections worldwide, the mini paintings depict mostly New Orleans and Louisiana icons, landmarks and images – from Alligators to Antoine’s and Café du Monde to Commander’s Place. Each ‘Little Views’ is unique and takes approximately one week to finish because they require drying time between each stage of paint. The inspiration behind these mini paintings comes
from Frey's love for her hometown and state. She also welcomes custom painting requests and does many mini paintings for wedding and occasion gifts. "I never know what people are going to ask me to paint next," said Frey.
“I have been painting ‘Little Views’ since 2010, and once I realized I was nearing 20,000 original pieces, I checked around for the record. The closest I could find was that of Pablo Picasso who is listed as the World’s Most Prolific Painter,” said Frey. Records show him as having done 13,500 paintings and designs, 100,000 prints and engravings, 34,000 book illustrations and 300 sculptures and ceramics. While Picasso still holds the record for his prints, engravings, sculptures and ceramics, none of which are original paintings
on canvas, Frey now joins him with a record of her own.
“It’s exciting to be able to leave a legacy doing something I love - while uniquely promoting the place I call home,” said Frey.
The World Record Academy is the World's largest organization which verifies and recognizes new records, based on unlimited categories. Launched in 2007 as the first major competitor of Guinness World Records, World Record Academy’s aim was to offer the first open online database of record holders and to launch a new, improved online registering system. Anyone who attempts to break or set a World Record title must follow and comply with a strict set of guidelines, which are uniquely drafted for each record attempt.
Frey’s famous ‘Little Views’ retail for approximately $40 and are available online and in New Orleans gift shops, including Fleurty Girl, Forever NOLA, What’s New, Little Miss Muffin, Judy’s at the Rink, Le Boulevard, Simply Southern, Ariodante Gallery and Roux Royale.
Frey’s showroom, Jax Art & Gifts at 110 Athania Pkwy in Metairie, Louisiana, is open to the public on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. On Saturday, July 8, there will be a special celebration at Jax Art & Gifts, commemorating Frey’s 20,000 paintings. The public is invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments and view Frey’s artwork, including the popular ‘Little Views,’ which
